First Bridges for Entrepreneurs
It is almost incomprehensible that we built the first Golf Course almost entirely by hand with back breaking work. (1967-1970) Take the bridges for example, we waited until the creek and the lakes were frozen hard and cut a hole through the ice to use a hand auger to drill down through the soil and gravel in the creek and lake bed as a post hole for the pilings for the bridges. We had to use furnace pipe casing in the creek to keep the holes from becoming just a large open hole instead of a tight hole for the piling. This type of construction was the best thing that ever happened to me…. learning how to solve problems and accomplish a goal no matter how difficult. It has served me well during life. I am sure my brother Gregg would agree that it has given us good stead for being successful entrepreneurs. It was all fun but very hard work. We have always been a family working together.
