Recently I read an article about Teamwork. Every successful business or successful venture has evidence of teamwork. Teamwork is essential to getting daily tasks and done and to fulfill the mission of the organization. Most businesses have it to some extent or they do not have staff. I see many small businesses that lack the talent to manage the team. Often the “Team is fractured into “Sub-teams”. In other words managers are often more concerned about getting “their team’s” allegiance to him/herself that they lose focus on the main team. At that point communication breaks down and the organization only is hitting on 4 of 6 cylinders. This is often the case on businesses that are struggling and not able to give the raises etc. that once were commonplace prior to the recession. “Sub-Team leaders” are exactly what the name implies, “Sub-team”. We all need to strive to develop the compreshensive umbrella team to be stronger than a “sub-team”.
